The Central Nervous System

The Central Nervous System

You are an amazing sack of energy called a human being. Perhaps the word sack doesn’t do you justice but you get what I mean.

The human being is astonishing. The many systems interacting all at once, all communicating to give us consciousness and agency.  The ability to perceive our surroundings, the ability to move through space and interact with the world around us, to pick up a cup, to hold someone’s hand, to hear and see the birds in the trees. To think, to feel, to be, to act.

The brain is the most complex organ of the human. It houses thought,  our emotions and feelings, our memories,  our sense of self, characteristics and behaviours, our ability to learn.

The merging of mind, body and soul all sitting proudly as the centre piece. The most majestic jewel in a marvellous crown.

The harmony that goes on inside of us at every second is too vast to fully grasp every second. Yet just stop for a second and think of the positively violent storm inside your head right now. The countless connections and  firing off neutrons at every millisecond. As well as the mystery of consciousness that the brain holds.

Its all rather awesome and humbling when we think about it. Especially as we didn’t create ourselves. Nobody did.

Our spinal cord is just an extension of our brain, both of which form the Central Nervous System.

It is the ultimate control centre of the rest of the body.

Through the Autonomic Nervous system it regulates our bodily functions automatically. Our digestive system, our reproductive system,  our internal  temperature, our blood pressure, our breath and our heart rate.

Our Somatic Nervous system allows us to consciously control our body movements via the use of our skeletal muscles. Taking signals of thought and firing them into action to talk, lift your finger, run to to the bus stop, play football etc.

The growth of you as a person, absorbing and channeling everything you have experienced. Forming an ever growing tower of your sense of self. Your positive and negative experiences, all embedded into the foundations and framework of you as a human.

And then there is your DNA, the block chain that enables the functioning and unique character of you. Formed by the flow and genetics of your previous generations and all that they experienced.

The many different functions of the central nervous system are profound and far reaching. So much so that it would be in all our interests to optimise this system.

The most powerful pathway to optimisation and elevation is through unification. Connecting the separate and diverse parts into a wider whole.

This is exactly what we do at Elevated Awareness. Through osteopathy, meditation and a positive philosophy, we invite you to merging with a deep inner peace and profound oneness within.

In our next blog we will tell you some secrets about the unifying elements of this central, vast and far reaching system. Secrets that few know but many would benefit from.
